Eleanore C. Brooks, 88, a Carson City resident for the past five years, died June 17, 2004, in Carson City.
Visitation and graveside services are pending.
Mrs. Brooks was born June 6, 1916, in Roseville, Ill., to Elbert and Anna Capps. She grew up in Avon, Ill., and graduated from Western Illinois University. She earned a degree in elementary education and vocal music from Fresno State University, Fresno, Calif.
She married Donald K. Brooks June 11, 1938. She taught in the Sanger School District in California for 27 years, at Wilson and Lone Star schools.
Mrs. Brooks was a member of the Sanger Methodist Church, a life member of the California Retired Teachers' Association, a 50-year member of Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. She was past president of the Sanger Women's Club and a member of the Leisure Hour Club of Fresno. She loved children and music.
Among her survivors are her husband of 66 years; son and daughter-in-law Donald Jr. and Kathe of Glenbrook; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and sister and brother-on-law Josephine and Gene Hamman of Trivoli, Ill.
The family requests donations be made to the Sanger Methodist Church, 1612 Ninth St., Sanger, Calif., 93657, the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 6362, Reno, 89513 or to a charity of donor's choice.
Wallin Funeral Home of Sanger is in charge of arrangements.
