ROSEBURG, Ore. - Pat Galligan scored on an error in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Lafayette (Calif.) Generals its first victory of the Lithia Motors Dr. Stewart's Invitational tournament in a 4-3 win over the Carson Cardinals Friday afternoon at Legion Field.

Carson dropped to 1-1 with the defeat.

Derick Poppert singled to lead off the seventh inning against the Cardinals' Murphy Gardner and one out later Greg Bonay singled. Galligan attempted to sacrifice the runners over, and Gardner's throw sailed over the first baseman's head, allowing Poppert to score the winning run.

Poppert and Bonay each went 2-for-3 for Lafayette. Mike Handley was 2-for-3 with a double for Carson and Kevin Schlange was 1-for-2 with two runs scored.

The Cardinals meet the Les Schwab Mid-Valley Rockets at 4:30 p.m. today.

The Rockets are 2-0 in the tournament thus far.
