Two brothers, charged with assault with a deadly weapon when they allegedly threatened each other at a Carson City gas station in November, pleaded guilty to lesser charges this week.

Steve Kelley, 33, pleaded guilty to ex-felon in possession of a firearm, and Scott Kelley, 32, pleaded guilty to obtaining money under a false pretense.

The men were involved in an altercation in the 1300 block of North Carson Street, in which one brother allegedly tried to run down the other, who allegedly was pointing a gun at him.

Deputy District Attorney Chris Hicks said Steve Kelley did pull out a gun, but it was in a holster; and Scott Kelley wasn't trying to run anyone over - he was trying to get away.

The assault with a deadly weapon charge was dropped in exchange for the plea on the obtaining money charge. In that case, Scott Kelley cashed a check for a business he no longer owned, Hicks said.
