Be prepared for some St. Pat's shenanigans

Irish shenanigans are right around the corner.

If you aren't old enough to attend the Republican Woman's Club of Carson City St. Patrick's Day Dinner on Wednesday, The Carson City/Storey County 4-H has all the St. Patrick's fun covered for all ages. Join 4-H for a plate of spaghetti, a whipped cream toss, skeet ball, ring toss and a lip-sync contest.

If you want to buy locally raised livestock, such as beef, sheep or pigs, contract forms are available for animals are raised by local 4-H members.

People have been asking for an update on Adrienne Jordan's senior project, in which she is collecting clothes for less-fortunate students at Carson High School. Adrienne is looking for donations of cool, trendy clothing. Also, if you are a local store and have cosmetic or perfume samples to donate or clothing that just cannot sell, call Adrienne.

Thanks to her determination, students can shop for needed items such as clothes, jackets, new shoes, prom dresses and hygiene products on April 7 in the CHS downstairs cafeteria. The spree will be supervised by an outsider so no one will know who shops.

Sierra Lutheran High School invites the community to its annual open house Sunday. If you want a local alternative to your child's education, come tour the 2-year-old facility and meet the staff. Sierra Lutheran provides academics while encouraging the integration of faith into the high-school experience. The curriculum is predominantly college preparatory as the majority of students plan to pursue higher education. A wide range of nonacademic activities include NIAA athletics and Academic Olympics, student government, journalism, youth ministry, service outreach to the community and more.

Do not forget the last two sign-ups for Pop Warner Football and that the book drive for students can benefit from your spring cleaning.
