It went down to the final race and the Carson High girls swim team was able to pull out a season-opening win against Reed.
Carson defeated Reed 144-137 on Saturday. Last year when the diving scores weren't included, the Senator girls beat Reed by one point. The Senator boys had an easy time beating a Reed team that had just four swimmers, winning 144-15.
The Senator girls had the lead going into the last event, the 400-yard freestyle relay. Reed beat Carson by less than a second (three minutes, 55.72 seconds-3:56.59). But Carson's second place finish was good enough to secure the win.
