It's been suggested "you're only as old as you feel."
Well, I must be closing in on 100. I celebrated (?) the Big 5-0 on March 12.
This past week saw the youngest of my two daughters turn 25 (a quarter of a century).
Where have all the years gone?
Yesterday was carefree. We rode bicycles and skateboards. We played baseball and basketball. We imagined ourselves to be cowboys and Indians. We built forts and explored the hillsides of Simi Valley, Calif.
Yesterday, we learned to drive. We earned our own gas money (29 cents per gallon for premium).
We'd drive to the beach with our radios turned to KHJ or KRLA. Our favorite deejays were The Real Don Steele, Robert W. Morgan, Humble Harv, Charlie Tuna and Machine Gun Kelly. The music they played was unforgettable. Wow!
Yesterday, I saw a vision of loveliness. Cathy smiled, and I was hooked forever. I fell head over heels. Now our baby is 25 years old.
Where have all the years gone?
"What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes." James 4:14
This life is short.
Last weekend was Easter (Resurrection) Sunday, and we are reminded that life in Christ is an abundant and endless summer. One day when we're finally at home with the Lord, yesterday and tomorrow will simply be today.
Jesus said, "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in Me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you."
Until yesterday ... Amen.
