A Mass will be held at 4 p.m. Friday for longtime Gardnerville resident Sharon Kathleen McPartland Etchegoyhen at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Gall.
Mrs. Etchegoyhen died March 19, 2004, at home after a long illness. She was born Sept. 10, 1930, in Reno to Victor and Kittie Kiley McPartland. She was 73.
Her father arrived on the banks of the Truckee River at age 13 with his 16-year old brother and their 12 cows from the Dakotas.
She graduated from Reno High School and attended the University of Nevada, Reno.
She married Jerome Etchegoyhen June 10, 1951, in Reno, and they spent the next few years in Winnemucca. They moved to Minden in the early 1960s.
She enjoyed good literature and a good debate about some worldly issue or religion.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Vicky, brother Michael, and her parents.
Among her survivors are her husband of Minden; brother Charles "Buzz" McPartland; sons and daughters-in-law Jerome Jr. and Sue, Paul and Kathleen, and Jacques and Cris; daughters and sons-in-law Jeanne and Jon Yaple, Katie and David Park; daughter Dion Etchegoyhen; grandchildren Joshua, Annie and Dominique Etchegoyhen, Alexa and Ashlyn Doak, Katie, Geoffrey and Sara Greene, Tori, Jacob and Jean Pierre Park; and great-grandchildren Korbin and Kendall Etchegoyhen.
