Donald Edward Waring, 77, a Carson City resident for the past 26 years, died March 27, 2004, at home. He was born Sept. 4, 1926, in Colorado to Joseph and Lena Weekley Waring.
He married Virginia Kelly on Feb. 12, 1950, in Pueblo, Colo.
Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Riverside, Calif.
Mr. Waring retired from the U.S. Air Force after 27 years of service, with the rank of senior master sergeant. He was a fire-control technician for the U.S. Air Force and an instructor at the NCO Academy at March Air Force Base, teaching management skills. He was a past member of the Air Force Sergeants Association.
He enjoyed fishing and wood working. He tutored the Vietnamese population in California in English as a second language.
Among his survivors are his wife of Carson City; daughter, Patricia Kelly Michals of Encinitas, Calif.; sisters Leana Starr and Gladys Williams, both of Castle Rock, Colo.; and nieces and nephews, including niece Candy Kelly of Colorado.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to a military charity of choice.
