Former Carson City Mayor Marv Teixeira threw his hat officially into the ring Wednesday, seeking his third term.
"I'm looking forward to it," Teixeira said. "I think it will be a very interesting race."
Incumbent Mayor Ray Masayko filed paperwork Monday, the first official day to file for the November election.
Teixeira said he plans to hit the streets and talk to "anybody, anyplace, anytime" during the campaign.
"I'm going to be on the street in the very near future," the retired IBM marketing executive said.
He already has several speaking engagements lined up, he said.
Teixeira served from 1989 to 1996, but decided not to run for a third term at the time. He recently received a clean bill of health after undergoing tests for cancer then decided to run, he said.
The 44-year Carson City resident said if elected, he will continue pushing for the Virginia & Truckee Railroad and freeway projects. The V&T reconstruction got its start when he was in office.
Also Wednesday, Supervisor Shelly Aldean, representing Ward 2, filed for re-election.
