A memorial service for Larry Paine, a Dayton resident for the past nine years, will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Dayton Community Center, 180 Pike Street, Old Town Dayton.
Mr. Paine died May 3, 2004, at his home. He was born Aug. 6, 1937.
He was the owner of PaineFitzgerald & Co., a consulting firm in the Dayton area that handles its business primarily over the Internet. His company also designed and managed the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce Web site.
Educated in electronic engineering and business, Mr. Paine spent his career in technology, company management and consulting. He was involved in the development of pacemakers, heart monitors and defibrillators. He was also involved in solar energy development in the 1970s and telecommunications in the 1980s. He was an officer of five companies and a board member of eight corporations. He also designed Web sites and was webmaster of more than 20 sites.
As a sailor, he sailed two oceans, the Great Lakes, the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico.
Before moving to Nevada, he and his wife, Roxanne, spent three years sailing a yacht to and from the Hawaiian Islands where they lived aboard, and visited every major island in the group. As a fan of sumo wrestling, he produced sumo movies on compact disc.
