A memorial service for Dennis Wheat, 67, a Carson City area resident for the past eight years, will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith.
Mr. Wheat died May 9, 2004, at his home. He was born Oct. 23, 1936, in Los Angeles, to Omar and Patricia McKenna Wheat.
He attended high school in California. Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Lake Havasu, Ariz.
Mr. Wheat worked for several years as a grinder in a machine shop in California where he was shop manager. He also worked in Virginia City, retiring in 1999. He enjoyed fishing and golfing.
Among his survivors are his wife, Darlene, of Carson City; sons Pat Wheat and Paul Wheat of California and Michael Nienhouse of Reno; daughters Peggy Saas of California and Danielle Barclay of Ohio; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters Judy McKenna of California and Bridgett McKenna of Washington and brother, Jack of Washington.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory. FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home, Gardnerville, is in charge of arrangements.
