California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection:
Staffing for the CDF will depend on Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's updated state budget. If staffing remains the same as last year, there will be 18 fire employees at the CDF Martis Station.
Equipment at the Martis Station near the Truckee airport includes two CDF engines. In Nevada, Placer and Yuba counties there are a total of 20 engines that could respond to a large fire in the Truckee area, all but two of which are stationed on the western side of the summit. In addition, there are two air tankers in Grass Valley that may be available. There are also air tankers in Stead, Nev., and Minden, Nev., that could be called in if needed.
U.S. Forest Service-Tahoe National Forest:
Staffing includes two fire prevention technicians on patrol in the Truckee and Sierraville Ranger Districts and a 20-person hand crew stationed at the Hobart Mills work center.
Equipment includes two type-3 brush engines, one type-4 engine with a five-person crew and a chase truck.
