The Luis Palau Reno Festival is June 11-12 at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park in Reno.

More than 3,000 volunteer counselors will be needed at the festival. Organizers say day training sessions are easy and fun and helpful to the individual in everyday life.

Several counselor training sessions are scheduled for those interested in helping others who wish to bring Jesus Christ into their lives.

The Reno Festival with Luis Palau (rhymes with allow) is a free, family-friendly celebration featuring some of the biggest names in inspirational and gospel music including TobyMac, Point of Grace, The Katinas, Kutless and Sarah Kelly. In addition there will be a food courts, a children's stage and play area, and an extreme sports showcase with a 9,000 square-foot skate park.

"We are pleading at this time for counselors," said Mike Stickler, director of church relations for the festival. "We never have enough for these festivals.

"I don't want to see someone raise their hand at the festival, to seek God, and not have someone there to help them."

The event is produced with the support of dozens of area churches and volunteers, and with the contributions of local and national businesses, foundations and individuals. Sierra Builders, Triad Plastic Technologies, Good Book Christian Bookstore, Moana Nursery and Zondervan Publishing are among the major sponsors.

Reno/Sparks area community food closets will benefit from an extensive food drive during the festival called Operation Compassion.

Persons planning to be a counselor at the festival should plan to attend at least one training session. You can be a counselor and volunteer in another area of the festival.
