A Douglas County woman is being investigated in her infant daughter's death after she tested positive for methamphetamine and marijuana following the baby's stillbirth at Carson-Tahoe Hospital.
Crystal Vanessa Moreno, 22, was arrested at the hospital Thursday on a Douglas County warrant alleging felony unlawful use of a controlled substance.
The warrant was issued April 1, following an investigation, said Douglas County Undersheriff Bob Rudnick.
Rudnick declined to reveal what lead to the investigation.
Carson City Sheriff's Detective Bob Motamenpour said an autopsy performed Friday was unable to determine what caused the full-term fetus to die.
It's believed the fetus was dead for at least a week.
"The autopsy found no viable physical problem that would have killed the baby," he said.
Toxicology results may be able to pinpoint what caused the death, Motamenpour said.
"We are playing a smaller role in this investigation," he said. "Moreno lived in Douglas County more than she lived here, but it is alleged she did drugs while she was pregnant here too."
