The Carson City Municipal Golf Corporation, the non-profit organization that manages Eagle Valley Golf, has chosen Carson High senior Jeremy Nielsen as this year's recipient of the "For the Good of the Game" $1,000 scholarship.
Nielsen, who plans to attend the University of Nevada as a Business Administration major, comes from a golfing family and says he grew up on the golf course. Playing since he was five years old, he had a top-ranked spot on the high school golf team and hopes to play on the Wolf Pack team next year.
"A golf course is a place where family, friends, and even people who have just met can have an enjoyable day and get to know each other," Nielsen said. "Golf and all of the great people I have played with over the years have molded me into the young adult I am today."
The scholarship will be awarded at the Carson High Awards Ceremony tonight. For more information, call 887-2380.
