A Carson City man was killed and another injured early Tuesday morning in an apparent domestic dispute, according to Carson City Sheriff Kenny Furlong.
The man was shot twice in the stomach and died at Washoe Medical Center. A second victim was shot in the thigh.
The shooter fled the scene and his identity is unknown.
Furlong said the dispute possibly involved a female who lives in one of the four apartments at 314 Eighth St.
He said the woman had the shooter inside the apartment. When the two victims arrived an argument erupted and went out into the street where the shooter pulled out a weapon and fired three times. Furlong said it is possible one of the victims was the woman's estranged boyfriend.
Some witnesses report hearing as many as five shots.
The shooting took place at Eighth and Nevada streets three blocks from Carson Street in Carson City's west side neighborhood.
"It used to be there were no problems on this side of (Highway) 395," said Patrick Croffman, 34, who lives nearby.
