Once again, Carson High has shown its one of the top all-around high school athletic programs in the state in competition, in the classroom and in citizenship.

For the second straight year, Carson placed third among all Nevada 4A schools in the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association Award of Excellence standings. The award is presented to the state's top athletic program for their performance in athletics, academics and sportsmanship.

Palo Verde won the 4A award for the second straight year with 3,850 points. Reno High took second with 3,685 points and Carson was third with 3,405 points. Carson won the award in 2001-2002.

A major reason why Carson consistently ranks near the top is its performance in academics. Carson has won more state academic titles than any other school in which teams are honored for having the highest grade point average in the state.
