At least five Nevada counties reporting final election results as of press time had better than 80 percent of registered voters cast ballots this year.

Secretary of State Dean Heller said with even Clark County turning out more than 70 percent of voters, the state should finish the election with better than 800,000 ballots cast. He said that would be an overall turnout of better than 75 percent.

In Carson City, nearly 88 percent turned out - a total of 23,176. But Douglas beat everybody as of press time with a 92 percent turnout - 23,953 out of 26,032 registered.

Heller said the percentage turnout should also be a record.

"But that's good news," he said.
