Revis Marion Edwards, 79, a Reno resident for 50 years, died of heart disease Oct. 31, 2004 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born April 25, 1925, near Archer City, Texas, to Leonard and Hala Belle Kincaid Edwards.
He grew up in Wasilla, Alaska, and Susanville, Calif., where he graduated from Lassen Union High School in 1941. In 1947, he graduated from the University of Southern California.
He married Marguerite "Posie" Edwards Nov. 23, 1947, in Reno.
Mr. Edwards was a fire=claims insurance adjuster for 40 years in Reno and Incline Village. He was affiliated with the General Adjustment Bureau, Whitby-Blakeley Adjusters and State Farm Insurance Co., retiring in 1990 from State Farm.
He was an accomplished sportsman and proud of catching an 11 1/2 pound German Brown Trout at Blue Lakes, Lassen County, in 1941 and bagging two Boone and Crockett Trophy desert bighorn sheep in Southern Nevada in the 1950s.
He held life memberships in Sigma Chi Fraternity, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Association of Survivors, WWII Parachute Units, USMC and the National Association of Independent Insurance Adjusters.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a paratrooper and was part of the invading forces at Iwo Jima during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack; and wife of 56 years, Posie.
Among his survivors are his daughter, Sally of Carson City; cousin, Barbara Nease of Sparks; nephews Bruce and Douglas Davie of California; niece and nephew Susan and Tim Edwards of Wyoming; and hunting and fishing partner of 62 years, André Iratcabal of Reno.
A private burial will be in the Edwards family plot in Lassen Cemetery, Susanville.
