A memorial service for Robert L. Dorfmeyer, 67, a Minden resident for the past five years, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Mr. Dorfmeyer died Oct. 29, 2004, at home. He was born Nov. 30, 1936, in Akron, Iowa, to Gerhardt and Margaret Dorfmeyer.
In 1937, his family moved to a farm near Hartley, Iowa, where he grew up and attended his first eight grades in a one-room country school. He graduated from Hartley High School in 1954.
Before moving to Minden, he lived in Garden Grove, Calif., for 30 years.
Mr. Dorfmeyer retired from Douglas/Boeing Aircraft in Long Beach, Calif., in January 1999 after 31 years.
He served in the U.S. Navy for four years.
He was preceded in death by his son Mitchell in 1999.
Among his survivors are his wife of 48 years, Carol of Minden; sons Bryan and family of Mesa, Ariz., and Robert Scott and family of Corona, Calif.; daughter, Donna Kay King and family of Minden; daughter-in-law, Barbara and family of Corona, Calif.; sister, Madonna O'Donovan of Banning, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Inurnment will be at Eastside Memorial Park Cemetery in Minden.
