McQueen beats Carson in opener

The game went back and forth and the Senators actually outshot McQueen from the field.

"I think we had some first game jitters," Carson coach Alana Williams said. "It's a long road with only five people returning (from last year) and only 12 practices to try and get everything in. Our execution could have been better, but we're going to work on those things."

In addition to 14 points from Scott, a 6-foot-2 junior, Sarah Johnston also scored nine for the Senators.

The Carson girls return to action with another non-league game Friday night against a Reed team that advanced to the Northern 4A Regional Tournament championship game last season.
