A blue 1994 Chevrolet pickup driven by a Coleville, Calif., man rolled over on Highway 395 in Douglas County, ejecting the driver and killing him instantly, according to Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper, Michael Teeuwen,
The crash happened shortly after midnight Saturday about seven miles south of Gardnerville at mile marker 11.
The driver was northbound on Highway 395 when the truck began to drift to the right, according to preliminary investigations. The driver overcorrected to the left, causing the pickup to spin counterclockwise and strike a metal highway marker. The driver then overcorrected to the right as he veered across the yellow lines in the center lane and spun the pickup clockwise.
The truck re-entered the southbound lane in a broadside skid, where the left side tires ripped off the rims and dug into the asphalt, causing the truck to overturn and ejecting the driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Highway Patrol has identified the driver, but his name was not immediately released pending family notification.
Alcohol may have been a contributing factor to the crash.
An official investigation is under way.
