The Carson High girls soccer team controlled the action in the second half to post an impressive 3-0 win at Galena on Tuesday.
Carson scored all three of its goals in the second half after battling Galena to a scoreless first half. It was an impressive win for Carson over a team that's unbeaten in the High Desert League.
"The first half it was a pretty even match," Carson coach Randy Roser said. "We were playing well. We just weren't connecting. "We pretty well poured it on in the second half. We just put it all together."
Defender Kathryn Rogers scored Carson's first goal from 30 yards out. Sarah Stalling then was able to knock the ball away from the goalie and Sophia Rafael took the ball and knocked it in from 18 yards to make it 2-0. Stalling followed with a goal to finish the scoring.
Roser credited defenders Rogers, Sammi Valerius, Ashley Briscoe and Sarah Johnston and midfielders Cassie Bowman, Morgan Beam and Courtney Hayes with controlling the play in the second half. Goalies Allie Otto and Caitlin Hasty combined to post the shutout. "Our defense basically kept Galena on their side of the field," Roser said.
