Junior Pee Wees win fourth straight

The Fallon Junior Pee Wee Green team came into Carson City with an undefeated record and a stingy defense, only allowing 12 points in its previous three games. However, the Carson Senators were up to the task, handing Fallon its first loss by posting a 20-0 win and extending their shutout streak to four games.

"Fallon threw everything they had at us in the first half and kept us in check" Carson offensive coordinator Al Teixeira said. "You've got to give Leonard (Lee) credit, he made the adjustments at halftime, which allowed us to win the game."

Fallon's defense held the Senators to only six points in the first half. A 42-yard pass from quarterback Colin McColloch to wide receiver Gabriel Pongasi was the difference.

The second half was a different story. Carson's strong ground game came to life as Brandon Akers, Patrick Craugh, Daniel Okimura, Chance Quilling, Dylan Sawyers and Joseph Zinda pounded the ball up the middle and around the ends. Sawyers scored the final two touchdowns for the Senators and scored an extra point. Craugh scored the remaining extra point to put the Senators up 20-0. The unsung heros and providing the blocking up front were Keegan Aiazzi, John Borges, Keith Collier, Alex Crathers, Nick Garcia, Jacob Myers, Austin Pacheco, Clinton Page, Pongasi, Cody Reno and Andrew Toland.

Carson's defense continued to show why its considered one of the best defenses in the league. This was Carson's fourth consecutive shutout in as many games.

"We didn't play with the same intensity level as we have in past games, but I am still proud of these boys. They faced a bigger back than they've seen in past games and still kept him out of the end zone. You can't ask for more than that," defensive coach Steve Sawyers stated.

"Our defense, lead by Taylor Anderson, Sam Blei, Austin Brown, Rodney Calhoun, Levi Carter, Cole Dufresne, Alex Eddy, Tony Fondi, Cody Hammond, Patrick Hesse, Willy McDonald, Pacheco, Logan Peternell, Pongasi, Quilling, Sawyers, Kurtis Scull, Zach White and Joseph Zinda is the best I've ever coached," defensive line coach Eddy Brown said.

Conner Fallon and Issac Hernandez were out last week due to illness, but are expected to be back in action this Friday night.

Carson will play its last regular season home game this Friday at 8 p.m. when it hosts the Reno Jets at Governor's Field.
