Get ready for food-filled fundraisers

Get ready to fill up with food, from pizza to bratwurst, for these next three fundraisers.

Carson City Pop Warner is teaming up with Round Table Pizza on Wednesday for a tasty event. For every pizza purchased at the Eagle Station Round Table Pizza, dine in or takeout, the corporation will give back 20 percent of total sales for the entire day.

You don't just have to order dinner - take the whole office to lunch, or order a pizza party at work. I know Southwest Gas Corp. and Linda Radideau's bunch eats lunch there.

So call them up and help a great cause. Every penny goes back to scholarships for CCPW football players and cheerleaders.

Beer and brats is always a good meal for the hungry man and woman, and this event helps our Carson High boys basketball team.

This is a guaranteed great event with cool raffle prizes, silent auction and wine from local winemakers.

This night is a good opportunity to sample many types of beers with your bratwurst in the comfortable atmosphere of the Carson Station Grill.

The third annual Hand-in-Hand fundraiser at Red's Old 395 Grill starts in November.

Lisa Lee needs money to purchase a new van for the Advocates to End Domestic Violence shelter - and, trust me, they need one. Now, everyone can go have a nice meal and help raise money for your favorite charity.

Last year's event brought in a total of $9,600 to help 49 local nonprofits. Don't forget that, in addition to being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it is also Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

A special thank you to Ann Dankworth for her efforts to help with the recent grant from Mary Kay Ash Cosmetics. Now let's get the rest of that money for them in November by stopping by Red's and ordering some wings and things.

All charities receive 100 percent of the donations designated to them. The group with the highest amount of donations will also receive a check from Red's matching the original 10 percent. The checks will be presented during the grand finale celebration in early December.

One final thank you goes to you, the readers. Hannah McIntosh e-mailed me to say she has already received 26 jackets for children in need. Of course, she would like to give every child in our area a coat and will be accepting more at her store, Vital Signs.
