Gunder J. Olesen, 92, a Gardnerville resident for the past 16 years, died Oct. 7 at home. He was born Oct. 31, 1911, in Hartford, Conn., to Hans and Bertha Olesen.
He spent most of his life in Southern California before moving to Gardnerville.
Mr. Olesen was an electrician. He enjoyed boating and taking trips from San Pedro, Calif., to Catalina Island. He was a Lutheran.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian, in June 1996; and son, Keith, in September 2000.
Among his survivors are his daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Peter Smith and brother and sister-in-law, Anker and Margaret, all of Gardnerville; grandson and wife, Scott and Tracy Smith of Dana Point, Calif.; great grandson, Kyle Smith; great-granddaughter, Reagan Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
Burial was at Eastside Memorial Park.
FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
