The Carson High volleyball team continues to make steady improvement. The ultimate test on if Carson has improved enough will come on Tuesday.

Carson swept past North Valleys 25-8, 25-18, 25-14 on Wednesday at home to improve to 6-2 in league. The Senators needed four games to beat North Valleys in their first meeting.

"We played pretty well," Carson coach Shana Wilkins said. We're doing well. We were able to play a little tougher."

But the real test will come on Tuesday when the Senators will host league-leading South Tahoe. "Hopefully we're improving enough so when we see South Tahoe on Tuesday it will matter," Wilkins said.

Wilkins said another difference in her team's play has been its ball handling. "We're learning how to take care of the ball," Wilkins said.

Collen Etcheverria served for seven aces, Allison Foltz had five digs, Sandra McAlman and Nicole Scott each had six kills and Lindsay Ford had 16 assists and three kills for Carson against North Valleys.

Gina Henderson, Macy Hamlin and Melony Cox combined to serve for 15 aces as the Dayton volleyball team swept Hug 25-13, 25-10, 25-9 in a nonleague match on Wednesday.

Henderson had six aces and three kills, Cox served for four aces and Hamlin had five aces and two digs. Also for Dayton (23-3, 10-2), Amanda Sbragia had 10 kills, four blocks, five digs and three aces, Michelle Bowman had 11 assists, and Rachel Studebaker had two digs and two assists.
