A Douglas County man will be recognized today in Reno by President George Bush for his volunteer work with Court Appointed Special Advocates.
Frank Schnorbus, 47, volunteer president of the Northern Nevada Home Homeschool Network, is also a volunteer advocate for abused and neglected children.
Bush has called on all Americans to volunteer two years or 4,000 hours over the course of their lifetime and created the USA Freedom Corps to help foster a culture of service, said said Erik Hotmire, Freedom Corps communications director.
Since March 2002, the president has met with more than 300 individuals around the country who are answering the call to service. Schnorbus is among them, Hotmire said.
As a court-appointed special advocate, Schnorbus is responsible for protecting a child's best interest during dependancy court proceedings. He is currently an advocate for two children and has helped three others.
