Similar to the European "man of the match" award, Lassen Community College coach Ben Wade selects the player who plays the best throughout the game.

In a thrilling 3-1 victory recenlty over Butte College, Douglas High graduate Molly Hernandez was given this honor.

"Molly played a great game, with an excellent first touch, great distribution," Wade said. " She was all over the place, very physical, several times got spun completely around (by a Butte player), somehow managed to keep hold of the ball and play the ball to a teammate.

Molly was pivotal in our victory today. Afterward she showed me her finger, which we think is broke, but by the way she was playing nobody would have noticed anything wrong."

With the victory over Butte, Lassen clinched its third conference championship in three years, and is guaranteed a spot in the playoffs. Lassen has also risen to No. 3 in the national rankings behind Dupage, Ill., and Long Beach.

Among other kep players for Lassen is Douglas graduate Jenny Jaggard.
