Charges filed in fatal Silver Springs rollover accident

DAYTON - A Silver Springs man was charged this week in a drunken driving accident that claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy.

Christopher Calibro, 27, is charged with one count of felony DUI causing death and two counts of felony DUI causing injury in the accident that killed Andrew Spencer on June 12 in the desert one mile north of Highway 50 in Silver Springs.

According to police, Calibro was driving Spencer; Matt Porter, 17; and Neil Spencer, 17; when his truck rolled over in a ditch near Hackberry Street.

Calibro suffered broken ribs and a punctured lung. Neil Spencer suffered a broken jaw and broken sinus, and Porter suffered a broken neck.

Andrew Spencer was in the seat behind Calibro when the accident occurred. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Calibro allegedly admitted to drinking prior to the accident. Tests confirmed his blood alcohol content was higher than the legal limit of .08, according to the criminal complaint.

He was arrested the night of the accident and released 72 hours later due to his injuries.
