DOUGLAS 5, WOOSTER 3
The Douglas boys soccer team kept its playoff hopes alive with the win. Despite the loss, Wooster still has clinched second at 7-3-1 in the Sierra League.
Carson is in third at 6-4-1 and Douglas and Reno are tied for fourth at 6-5, with the Tigers holding the tiebreaker. Carson and Douglas will know much about their fate when they play at 7 p.m. Monday because Wooster will play Reno at 3 p.m. Monday.
Douglas would advance to the playoffs if Reno loses and could finish as high as third if it beats Carson. If Reno ties or wins, Douglas would have to tie or beat Carson to make the playoffs.
Colten Mellows scored twice for Douglas in the win over Wooster. Iani Dunbar began the scoring on a breakway and Mellows scored at the end of the first half and beginning of the second half. Michael Gransberry took a deflection off of the goalie and scored and then assisted on a goal by David Sturgess to finish the scoring.
