Ruth Aikman Ramsay

A remembrance for Ruth Aikman Ramsay, 92, a Gardnerville resident for the past 27 years, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Brune and Buck Mortuary, 325 W. Elm St., Bishop. A graveside service at the East Line Street Cemetery will follow.

Mrs. Ramsay died Oct. 24, 2004, in Minden. She was born April 30, 1912, in Ines, Kan., to Claude and Anna Aikman.

She graduated first in her class from the Business College of Wichita in Kansas before relocating to Long Beach, Calif., in 1932.

She married Edmond Ramsay Nov. 9, 1940. She moved to Bishop in 1959.

Mrs. Ramsay was the bookkeeper at Bishop Union High School in the early 1960s, worked in the medical offices of Drs. Scott and Sheldon during the late 1960s and early 1970s, then returned to the high school, where she worked until her retirement in 1977.

She was a skilled seamstress, an accomplished pianist, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as president of the Business and Professional Women's organization. She was a Christian.

She was preceded in death by her husband and daughter, Jacqueline Craig.

Among her survivors are her daughters Carol King of Hemet, Calif., Lizabeth Ramsay of Holbrook Junction and Robyn Ramsay Hooker of Arroyo Grande, Calif.; grandchildren Claudia King-Rick of Victorville, Calif., Lisa Daggett Petersen of Junction City, Ore., Robba'Lee King Sweeney of Dayton, Tina Verna Peach, Carl Edmond King, Jill King-Capps of Carson City, Tonyia Verna Brewer of Los Angeles, Vincent Gurzi, Michael Faley of Holbrook Junction and Cori Ramsay Hooker; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
