The Rite of Passage football team used a strong defensive effort in the second half to go on to beat Battle Mountain 26-15 on Saturday.
ROP (2-1) led 18-15 at halftime and shut out Battle Mountain in the second half to improve to 2-0 in Northern 2A play. Hugo Araiza had another huge game on defense, with 18 tackles, including four sacks. Phillip Williams also returned a fumble 86 yards for a touchdown.
Darrell Gentry scored the other three touchdowns, rushing for 60 yards and two scores and catching a 32-yard scoring pass from Jason Tomma.
