The Carson Senators Pop Warner Junior Pee Wee Blue football team made a bold statement Friday night as they beat the Sparks Steelers 35Ð0.
Carson won the coin toss, but deferred the ball to the second half. The defense, who was lead by Taylor Anderson, Sam Blei, Austin Brown, Rodney Calhoun, Levi Carter, Cole Dufresne, Alex Eddy, Tony Fondi, Cody Hammond, Patrick Hesse, Willie McDonald, Austin Pacheco, Logan Peternell, Gabriel Pongasi, Chance Quilling, Dyland Sawyers, Kurtis Scull, Andrew Toland, Zach White and Joseph Zinda, was tenacious throughout the game. The Steelers attempted three pass plays and had two intercepted by Peternell and Sawyers. Peternell returned the pick 23 yards, while Sawyers returned his pick 36 yards for a touchdown. The Steelers other attempt never got off as White sacked the quarterback for a 12-yard loss. Carson's defense held the Steelers to negative yards rushing.
Carson's offense rolled with ease as it scored on the third play from scrimmage and then again on the first play of the second series. Sawyer scored the first two touchdowns for the Senators with Patrick Craugh and Quilling adding the other two.
Daniel Okimura, Craugh, Sawyers and Zinda scored the extra points for the Senators. Barking out the signals and spearheading the drives were quarterbacks Colin McColloch and Brandon Akers. Up front and opening some gapping holes were Keegan Aiazzi, John Borges, Keith Collier, Alex Crathers, Conner Fallon, Nick Garcia, Issac Hernandez, Jacob Myers, Pacheco, Clinton Page, Pongasi and Cody Reno.
Carson travels to Don Mello Field on Friday to take on the Sparks Wolf Pack who lost to Douglas 14-13 last week.
