A funeral for Bernice Pierce Sargent, 76, a lifetime Carson City resident, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, C Hill Building, 1331 McKay Drive.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.
Mrs. Sargent died Sept. 19, 2004, in Carson City. She was born Sept. 16, 1928, in Loyalton, Calif., to Frank Joe Pierce and Rachael McClelland Pierce Vidovich.
She married Robert Alvin Sargent Sept. 1, 1946, in Reno.
Mrs. Sargent worked for Carson-Tahoe Hospital, took care of the elderly and was a homemaker. She sat on the Housing Commission for more than nine years. She was a member of the LDS church, Clear Creek Ward and a member of the Washoe Tribe.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, stepfather Jim Vidovich and daughter, Mary Elanor Sargent.
Among her survivors are her husband; sons Robert James and Wyman Dean; daughter, Virginia Rachel Dutchy; sister, Ruth Pierce Abbie; 12 grandchildren including granddaughters raised in her home Tamela M. Street, Marilyn E. Muscott, Glenna Lee Cable and Brandi Nicole Colunga; grandsons Lew R. Dutchy and Christopher R. Sargent; 22 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Burial will be in the Stewart Indian Cemetery.
