Galena's Geib, Fritsche win at Bay Area meet

Fritsche won the boys pole vault with a clearance of 14-feet, 6-inches that also tied the school record and Geib won the 3,200 meters by 80 meters with a time of 9:24.6 on a cool and breezy day at Chabot College.


Geib had a busy day on the track, as the junior placed fourth in the 1,600 (4:30.74) and ran a leg for Galena's third-place 4x800 relay team (8:33.55). Teammate Michael Van Antwerp placed third in the 3,200 (9:40.5), seventh in the 1,600 (4:34.34) and joined Nick Carew, Raul Tibaduiiza and Geib on the 4x800 relay team.


In the girls competition, Alyssa Abbott placed second in the 1600 in a time of 5:13.06 and took fifth in the 800 with a 2:22.15 effort. Julia and Lydia Mailander placed second and third in the triple jump with respective marks of 36-5 and 35-1, plus they placed third and fourth in the long jump with marks of 16-7 and 16-6 1/4. Lydia Mailander also cleared 5-0 in the high jump to place seventh. Aubrie Neil also ran 49.11 in the 300-meter low hurdles and cleared 8-0 in the pole vault, while Ali Agee ran 1:01.6 in the 400.


Also for Galena, Nick Shannon placed third in the boys high jump at 6-4, Zach Shannon cleared 12-0 in the pole vault and Max Lahoud went 41-11 in the triple jump.


Other members of the Galena squad were at the Fallon Elks Invitational Saturday. Langley Iverson placed second in the high jump at 4-10 and Nicole Schultz placed second in long jump at 16-0.


GEORGE PINCOCK RUNS


WELL FOR COLORADO


Carson High graduate George Pincock ran four strong races for the University of Colorado at the Tom Benich Classic in Greeley, Colo., on Saturday.


Pincock placed second in the 200 and 400 with respective times of 21.38 and 47.33. His 400 time was a personal record.


The sophomore also ran anchor for Colorado's first-place 4x100 relay team that ran 41.26, plus he ran the leadoff leg as the Buffaloes placed third in the 4x400 (3:19.02).
