Andrew Ferguson settled down after a rough first inning and the Galena baseball team rallied for a 10-5 win over Fallon on Thursdy at Galena.
Ferguson struggled with his control as Fallon took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. But Galena rallied for 10 runs over the first four innings to take a 10-4 lead and Ferguson went on to pitch a complete game for the win. Galena kept pace in the High Desert League race, improving to 5-2
"He did a really good job of actually kind of righting the ship," said Galena coach Gary McNamara about Ferguson. "He threw strikes the rest of the game. He did a good job of composing himself."
Galena rallied to take a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the first. Ferguson led off with a single and J.D. Peters and Tony Thompson each followed with RBI doubles, Shane Kochenmeister doubled and Jake Hess completed the scoring with an RBI single.
Basim Azzam broke a 4-4 tie in the third with a two-run home run. Galena scored four runs on five straight hits in the fourth.
Peters singled, Thompson doubled, Eric Maupin hit a two-run double, Azzam had an RBI single and Kochenmeister hit an RBI single.
Azzam was 2-for-4 with four RBI, Peters went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, Thompson was 2-for-4 with two doubles and and RBI, Maupin went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI and Kochenmeister added two hits for Galena, which banged out 13 hits. Ferguson finished with eight strikeouts.
