A Carson City man remained in custody Thursday after a detective working another case allegedly found him with stolen goods.
Joseph Gregory Contini, 27, was booked into the Carson City Jail on suspicion of felony possession of stolen property, residential burglary, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of burglary tools.
According to the arrest report, Detective Bob Motamenpour was on Winnie Lane about 10 a.m. Wednesday when he drove past a home he knew was in foreclosure. There were a number of vehicles in "poor condition," not likely belonging to real-estate agents and a side gate open.
When Motamenpour got out of his vehicle he allegedly saw Contini, who he recognized from previous incidents, coming out of the gate.
"I also knew that Joseph carried a variety of large and small knives," he wrote. Motamenpour said Contini consented to speak with him. For his safety, the detective patted Contini down and allegedly found a small knife and a credit card in his pocket. The card had the name of State Archivist Guy Rocha on it.
Rocha reported an hour earlier his home had been burglarized as he slept between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
Inside Contini's car, a lock pick was allegedly found.
Contini allegedly told Motamenpour he knew his family's home was in foreclosure, but he had a key and had been staying there for the past several weeks.
Inside the home, several other items stolen from Rocha such as store charge cards and a watch, were found, according to the report. Rocha was called to the home to identify his belongings. Motamenpour also allegedly found other items stolen in another residential burglary.
Contini is being held on $56,132 bail.
