Once again the Carson High Naval Junior ROTC team proved to be one of the best clubs in the country.
In the process, Carson just missed representing the Navy in a national high school competition against the Army and Marines.
Carson was among the nation's top 20 high school teams to recently compete in Ft. Benning, Ga. in the Navy's national shoulder-to-shoulder rifle match. Carson came into the event ranked 11th, but finished fourth. The top three teams advanced to represent the Navy in the National JROTC match against the Army's and Marines' top three clubs.
Leah Taboada led Carson by finishing fifth in the individual competition with a score of 531 out of 560. Others for Carson were Sarah Stadler (520), Mike Moltz (507) and Cody Stokes (491).
