CHS is swept in swim

The Carson High boys and girls swim teams had encouraging efforts against Reno High on Friday.


But in the end, Reno's depth was just too much as the Huskies won the girls meet 169-116 and the boys meet 156-127.


A highlight in the girls meet came when the team of Jamie Engan, Katie Wandel, Hilary Schlager and Jessica Goddard won the 200-yard freestyle relay in one minute, 46.18 seconds.


Engan won three events for Carson as she also won the 200 free and the 100 butterfly. The Senators went 1-2 in the 500 free as well as Lauren Metcalf won and Barbara Perkins took second.


In addition for Carson, Metcalf was second in the 200 individual medley, Wandel was second and Goddard was third in the 50 free, Wandel was second in the 100 free, Schlager took second in the 100 breaststroke and Carson was second in the 400 free.


For the boys, Sam Forbes won the 100 fly and John Wandel won the 100 backstroke. Also for Carson, Forbes was second, Matt Grunert took third and Garrett Clayton placed fourth in the 200 individual medley, Ian Murdock, Ahron Osheroff, Jess Shobert and Alex Updegrove were second in the 200 free relay, Grunert was second and Clayton took third in the 100 breaststroke and Carson took second and third in the 400 free relay.
