Nicole Greer pitched two one-hitters to lead the Dayton High softball team to a doublehader sweep at Incline on Saturday.
Dayton won the opener 6-1 and the nightcap 6-0. Greer allowed one unearned run while striking out nine in the opener. Brittany Hill was 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs, Melony Cox was 1-for-3 with an RBI, Greer went 1-for-2 with two RBI, and Katy Cross added a hit.
In her complete game shutout in the nightcap, Greer struck out seven and walk nobody. Cox went 1-for-3 with a run, Greer had a triple, RBI and a run, Sara Simmons had a double and a run, Cross had a hit and two runs and Lauren Fisher added a hit for Dayton (7-12, 6-8).
GALENA SWEPT
The Galena High softball team's position as the No. 4 seed into the Northern 4A playoffs out of the High Desert League was virtuall solidified when it lost a doubleheader to Reed. The Raiders won the opener 5-1 and the nightcap 7-6.
The Grizzlies came back from a 6-1 deficit to score five runs in the sixth inning to force a 6-6 tie. Jesse Worth, Megan Molinari, Courtney McKeon, Alicia Kraft all had hits and Michelle Drury had an RBI sacrifice fly during the rally.
Molinari went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a double. Danelle Moropolous pitched the first five innings and Justine Sargent was the tough luck loser, going the last two innings and giving up the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
In the opener, Kaitlin Porter went 2-for-3 with an RBI, Moropolous doubled and Sargent, who went the distance on the mound, added a hit for Galena, now 10-8 in league.
