A graveside service for Mayola Aldine Shirley, 79, a Silver Springs resident for 43 years, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City.
Visitation will be held at FitzHenry's Funeral Home in Carson City on at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Mrs. Shirley died April 28, 2005, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital in Carson City. She was born Oct. 7, 1925, to Charles and Julia Christine Lee Hulbert Drummond in Auburn, Calif.
She married Wellington "Red" Shirley Aug. 28, 1943, in Carson City.
Mrs. Shirley worked as a custodian at Silver Springs Elementary School for 10 years. Prior to that, she was a school bus driver in California and Nevada. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985, and brothers Noel and Tom Hulbert.
Among her survivors are half-sisters Eula Hulbert Marriot of Auburn, Calif. and Evie Hulbert Harley of Fallon; her son, Bill D. Shirley and daughter Deborah Glick, both of Silver Springs; step-daughters, Mary Ellen VanNest of Gardnerville, Billie Ruble of Chico, Calif.; grandson Charles W. Shirley of Stagecoach; granddaughters Jessie and Jamie Shirley; and several great-grandchildren.
There will be a reception at the Masonic Lodge at 113 East Washington St. in Carson City immediately following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Emergency Department Observation Unit, P.O. Box 2168, Carson City, NV 89702. Her family is also creating a Silver Stage High School memorial in the name of Mayola and Red Shirley.
