A Mass and reception for Pietro "Pete" Menicucci, 69, a Reno resident for the past 40 years, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Reno.
Mr. Menicucci died July 29, 2005, in an auto accident near Carlin, which also took the life of his sister, Emma Young, of Las Vegas, while they were on their way to the Carlin High School Reunion.
He was born July 11, 1936, in Winnemucca.
He graduated from Carlin High School with the class of 1955. He received a Harold's Club Scholarship upon graduation and attended the University of Nevada where he was a member of ATO fraternity and graduated with a bachelor's of science degree in history.
He married Dee Anna Lee Meyer.
After graduation, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served for three years.
Mr. Menicucci worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad for 35 years and retired in 2001. He had also been a real estate broker in Reno since 1973 and owned Stetson-Beemer Real Estate. He was a member of the Italian Benevolent Society and the Italian Catholic Federation.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Among his survivors are his children Paige and Peter; sister, Eole Pacini; grandchildren, nephews and cousins.
He will be buried with his wife at Mountain View Cemetery in Reno.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pete Menicucci Memorial Scholarship Fund at the University of Nevada with preference given to graduating seniors of Carlin High School and members of ATO fraternity. Make checks payable to UNR Foundation with "Pete Menicucci Memorial Scholarship" noted in the memo section to UNR Foundation, MS 162, Reno, NV 89557.
