A power outage caused by a branch falling on a power line in Mills Park left about 900 customers without power Sunday afternoon.
Sierra Pacific Power Co. spokeswoman Faye Anderson said the outage lasted from 12:42 p.m. until 1:32 and affected customers on Roop Street from East Fifth Street to East Proctor Street.
The outage triggered two fire alarms in the Capital Business Center, in the 1100 block of East William Street, at about 1:30 p.m.
Several callers to dispatch reported seeing sparks coming off a power line in Mills Park.
Anderson said the power company received a report of low-hanging wires on Corbett and Roop streets that turned out to be phone and cable wires.
Carson City Sheriff deputies closed Corbett Street for about 20 minutes until the wires were examined.
