A celebration of life for Keith "Brian" Hooks, 44, former Carson City resident, will be at noon Saturday at Mills Park.
Mr. Hooks died July 17, 2005, in Henderson, from a heart attack. He was born June 22, 1961, in Richmond, Calif., to Kenneth and Catherine Hooks.
He attended Carson High School and was a member of the Carson swim team. He graduated from Hogan Senior High School in Vallejo, Calif., and joined the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Hooks was a mechanic pipe insulator for Asbestos Workers' Local 16 and had been working as a traveler-mechanic through Las Vegas Local 135 for eight years.
He was preceded in death by a son, Zachary.
Among his survivors are his children Subrina Ashley and Kenneth Keoki; mother, Catherine Castillo; parents Kenneth and Emily Hooks; brother, William M.; sister, Denise Duncan of Henderson; stepbrothers Fed, Gil Jr. and Perry; grandmothers Mary Swerdfeger of Minden and Mildred Hooks of Vallejo and numerous extended family members who live in California.
A memorial service was held at Palm Mortuary in Henderson.
