The Carson City Ministerial Fellowship began its 2005-2006 schedule with an election of officers.

Nominated for the position of president was John Wiltse, pastor of Bread of Life Fellowship in Mound House; vice president nominee was Chuck Nichter, pastor of Wellspring Church and Ministries in Washoe Valley; and for secretary/treasurer, Alan Dorway, associate pastor of First Presbyterian Church.

Each of the pastors nominated and unanimously voted into office are holding their respective positions for the first time.

"It has been a pleasure serving you in the capacity as president, but it is time to move on to new and better leadership," said outgoing president Bruce Henderson from Airport Road Church of Christ.

Henderson said that over his term he has tried to stress the importance of unity and commonality in the Body of Christ.

Wiltse addressed the group and said it has been a pleasure serving as secretary/treasurer for the past year and he is looking forward to serving the community of Carson City for another year in the Lord's service, as president of the fellowship.

"My philosophy is, what takes place within this fellowship is what the general fellowship wants," Wiltse said. "And I want to take them in that direction."

It has been customary of the fellowship to then disperse most of its operating funds in equal donations to nonprofit agencies in the community. Of the $500 in the account, $150 each was given to Advocates to End Domestic Violence, the Community Pregnancy Center and Children in Transition program through the Carson City School District.

For the past several years, the fellowship has organized a ceremony recognizing National Day of Prayer for Carson City and surrounding communities. It is held on the steps of the Capitol the first Thursday in May.
