MINDEN - A Dresslerville man, who was shot in the leg with a shotgun early Tuesday morning, was taken into custody for a probation violation.

Marcel Wyatt, 27, of Gardnerville, was arrested after Douglas County deputies responded to a report of a gun shot at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden just after midnight.

An unknown assailant fired a single 12-gauge shotgun blast into Wyatt's leg outside the casino.

According to Sgt. Tom Mezzetta of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Wyatt provided little information about what happened to him and who was involved.

Wyatt was on probation and had allegedly been drinking alcohol.

He was turned over to Washoe Tribal Police for a probation violation, who took him into custody and booked him into Washoe County Jail.

Mezzetta said preliminary reports indicate that Wyatt and his assailant were involved in a verbal confrontation inside the casino earlier that night.

When Wyatt stepped outside, he was confronted by the armed assailant who fired a single shot, striking Wyatt in the leg.

A vehicle parked in the area was damaged when stray pellets apparently shattered the rear window.

The assailant fled prior to deputies' arrival.

"Carson Valley Inn security officers were instrumental in helping investigators collect evidence, to include surveillance footage of the suspect," Mezzetta said.
