The Douglas High wrestling team defeated Damonte Ranch 54-15 in a Sierra League meet on Wednesday.

Nick Ceglia fought for six minutes at 160 pounds, but came up just two points short for Douglas to start off the meet.

Sean Molina followed, giving up a first round take down, but immediately turned things around and after two minutes of arm bar attacks, he turned and hammered the Damonte wrestler down for the first Tiger pin of the evening.

After an exchange of forfeits, Matt Castro lost to Damonte's wrestler in a battle of two of the North's top heavyweights.

Up next, Garret Hekhius was neck and neck with Damonte's wrestler at 103, exchanging takedowns and reversals, only to get caught in the last seconds for a Damonte pin. Freshman Neco Barker was all business and wasted no time with a quick takedown and pin for Douglas.

Senior team Leader Bryan Kaplan took to the mat against Damonte's wrestler for the main event of the evening, but was unable to stop the low single assault, giving Damonte its last three points for the evening.

Next, freshman Justin Freeman shot and tallied a quick fall in his varsity debut at 130. For the final match of the evening, Matt Boyd came out and after a flurry of near falls, secured the fall and took home a pin.

The Tigers pocketed their remaining wins by forfeit for the victory.
