A memorial service for Thomas Keith Engan, 48, a Carson City resident for the past year, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Teresa Catholic Church.
Mr. Engan died Nov. 26, 2005, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital after a five-year battle with melanoma.
He was born Nov. 9, 1957, in Baltimore, Md., to James Olaf and Mary Staszecky Engan.
He attended Holy Trinity School in Bloomington, Ill., and the University of Illinois where he received a B.A. degree. He received a law degree from the University of Arizona and took chemistry courses at Illinois State University.
He wrote many novels and poems and composed music. He enjoyed traveling.
Among his survivors are his daughters Emily and Jamie; brothers James of Salt Lake City, Utah and Zachary of Morrison, Ill.; and mother, Mary.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Carson Tiger Sharks or to an educational fund for Jamie and Emily Engan.
Capitol City Cremation & Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
