Locals, organizations created a season of miracles

This Christmas was little brighter for several area children, who were otherwise facing difficult circumstances.

Here are some of those organizations that helped make those miraculous moments:

Toys for Tots and every Marine; Toys for Joys through Salvation Army; Toys for Teenagers, Best Buy, Vital Signs and Carson High School senior Candice Mondragon; Harley-Davidson Financial; Carson Nugget; Karson Kruzers; Carson City Sheriff's Department; Carson City Firemen's Association; U.S. Postal Service in Carson City; Soroptimist International of Carson City; Kiwanis International of Carson City; Rotary International of Carson City; the Carson City Raiders Booster Club; the SBC Telephone Pioneer; Western Nevada Supply Company in Sparks; RSVP and Friends to Seniors Christmas program; the Carson City Chamber of Commerce and so many other city and state agencies.

We must also recognize every person who dropped spare change into a red kettle and everyone who took an Angel Tree tag or who purchased a toy to give to an underprivileged child. Thank you! I hope the joy you provided for others comes back to you all tenfold.

I received so many thank-yous from so many organizations that you helped, like Volunteers of America Children's Shelter for making a merry Christmas for 12 children at the shelter.

Thanks came from Lisa Lee at Advocates to End Domestic Violence for the amazing turnout to fill the pantry during the annual food drive.

It is my pleasure this week to thank each and every one of my readers and my friends for helping others, giving freely, and together making a difference. I hope each of you had a very merry Christmas, and I cannot thank you enough.
